Blake Boyd is Oak Grove's "Renaissance
Man" because he is so multi-talented. He is a native Texan, having
lived most of his life in Decatur. By profession, Blake has been a
hairstylist, a make-up artist, as well as a motivational speaker,
but his primary profession, and his greatest love, is dairying. He
is a professional entertainer and has even performed at Dogpatch USA.
In his spare time he loves to write music, poetry, and short stories.
Blake is also an expert on chickens! His intelligence, his wit, his
charm--all these make him a favorite addition to our church music
program. He is truly a gifted performer, and we are blessed to have
him in our congregation.
Blake’s favorite Bible passage:
“And we know that God causes
all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those
who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew,
He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so
that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom
He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also
justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified." Romans
8: 28-30
Blake's favorite hymn:
Amazing Grace
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
