Barbara King
pianist

Barbara King has come back home to Oak Grove after having been gone for about 45 years. She grew up in the area and was a member of Oak Grove until she moved to Alvord where she taught for 15 years. In 1976 she and her husband Bennie moved to Trinidad in Henderson County to assume new teaching positions. After retiring in 1991, the Kings finally moved back to Decatur.

Barbara was a pianist in both the Alvord and Trinidad UM churches and assists Sue Harris and Blake Boyd in that capacity at Oak Grove. What a blessing it is to have her join our music program! Come and hear her play those good "ole gospel songs" with such enthusiasm! It will warm your heart.

Besides doting on their grandson Ryan, Barbara enjoys gardening and yard work.

Barbara's favorite Bible verse:
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8

Barbara's favorite hymn:

Saved, Saved!

I’ve found a Friend, Who is all to me,
His love is ever true;
I love to tell how He lifted me
And what His grace can do for you.

Refrain: Saved by His power divine,
Saved to new life sublime!
Life now is sweet and my joy is complete,
For I’m saved, saved, saved!

He saves me from every sin and harm,
Secures my soul each day;
I’m leaning strong on His mighty arm;
I know He’ll guide me all the way.

Refrain

When poor and needy and all alone,
In love He said to me,
“Come unto Me and I’ll lead you home,
To live with Me eternally.”
