What to Expect When You Visit Oak Grove...

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE

Worship is at the heart of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. On Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM, the entire congregation gathers to sing praises to God, to share their joys and concerns, to pray together, and to hear the Word proclaimed. Our relaxed traditional services usually last an hour.

DRESS

Dress however you like. At Oak Grove you'll see blue jeans and three-piece suits alike.

ACOLYTES

Acolytes are a traditional part of the worship service at Oak Grove. Children light the candles on the altar at the beginning of the Sunday worship service. This act symbolizes God bringing light into the World and the illumination of The Gospel, God's Holy Word. Children also serve as Stewards when Holy Communion is served.

CHILDREN

We provide a nursery for children under the age of four. A children's sermon is incorporated into each Sunday worship service, but there is no separate children's church.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

"Coffee And Conversation"  takes place in Fellowship Hall prior to the 10:00 AM Sunday School Hour. The Adult Class meets in Fellowship Hall, and the children's class meets in the children's classroom.

COMMUNION

On the First Sunday of each month,  Holy Communion is served. At Oak Grove, everyone is welcome at the table of Jesus Christ, no matter what denomination you profess. A special offering is sometimes taken to benefit a local charity. You may leave a donation on the chancel rail if you desire.

FIFTH SUNDAY GOSPEL SINGING AND COVERED DISH LUNCHEON

When there is a fifth Sunday in a month, Oak Grove hosts its traditional Gospel Singing Event, following by a covered dish luncheon. The service is abbreviated to allow plenty of time to worship God through singing the old favorite gospel songs. Special guests and special music, along with great country cooking, make it a day you will not want to miss.
