In
the fall of 2004, the Oak Grove Prayer Garden was officially dedicated
following a gospel singing tribute to honor Charles Wilhite. The men
of the church had spent several months getting the site prepared by
laying bricks and landscaping the area. The concrete stairs from the
original building in 1902 were used as a basis for new steps into
the garden from the north end. On January 2, 2005, a plaque and two
benches were added to the angel statue and birdbath already in place.
Another plaque in memory of Charles Wilhite was also placed at the
site. Many thanks to all those who contributed to this project, especially
Walter Pac, and to Barbara and Bennie King for their efforts in completing
it.
