Jim Sutton, Lay Leader
Jim was
born in Gainesville, but lived most of his life in Era, TX. After
the death of his father, Jim and his mother owned and ran a restaurant
there, raising their own farm fresh veggies to serve on the menu.
Although Jim raised animals for 4-H projects, it wasn’t until
he and wife Ann married that he really got into the “animal
business.” If you go to their ranch today, you will find critters
of all sizes and shapes! Initially, Jim worked for Amerace Corporation
and started Sutton Service Company as a side job for extra income.
After being laid off at the main job in 1984, he moved his company
to Denton and in 1987, bought Blue Jay Air and combined the two.
When he is not installing or repairing air conditioning systems,
Jim is active square dancing with Ann or serving in the Habitat
for Humanity chapter of Wise County. Whenever anything needs
to be done around Oak Grove, Jim is the first to volunteer.
His commitment and dedication to God make him the perfect choice
as Lay Leader, the spiritual leader of the church.
Jim's favorite Bible verse is John
3:16.
"For God so
loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Jim's favorite hymn is "In The
Garden."
In the Garden
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
Refrain
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
